Hero Condoms are vegan

The first time we heard the phrase ‘vegan condoms’ our first thought was, “well, that’s a clever marketing strategy.” But, the truth is, most condoms are made out of latex (both mainstream and these too), and casein is used to soften latex in the manufacturing process the majority of the time. What is casein? It’s a protein found in cows milk. Hero Condoms go through this process without using the milk protein.

For every Hero Condom sold, another one is donated to charity

This is a good enough reason to swap brands alone. Hero Condoms was launched in 2014 to respond to the AIDS pandemic in Botswana where approx 20% of the population live with HIV. Purchasing condoms at a retail level in Botswana were unaffordable for many, and free supply from clinics were hard to come by. Hero Condoms joined forces with a grassroots organisation to help supply free condoms to those in need. The donations also happen closer to home too with programs in the Asia Pacific region, including regional Indigenous Australian communities. Over 23,000 Australians live with HIV. Every time you buy a box of 12 condoms, 12 more condoms are being given to someone in need.
