Aromatherapy Carrier Oils

When essential oils and blends are used on the skin, it is vital that they are diluted in a carrier oil before you apply them to the skin. Essential oils are highly concentrated and meant for use in a diffuser with just 2 or 3 drops for 50 to 100ml of liquid. Putting them directly on your skin can cause great harm.

Fractionated coconut oil is the main carrier oil that most brands choose, but you can use jojoba oil, argan oil or any other pure facial oil as a carrier oil. What is fractionated coconut oil? It’s an ‘always liquid’ version of coconut oil so it can be used in roller balls and cosmetics. The lauric acid is removed and you end up with a liquid that won’t turn solid once you get below around 25C like virgin coconut oil does.
