Dr Bronner's is a staple in most natural beauty cabinets. They are a multi-tasking organic skin care staple and their products are formulated with organic and fair trade ingredients, the brand has been around since 1858 and the products are packaged in post-consumer recycled packaging. They are pure & simple formulas and their 18-in-1 Hemp Pure Castile Liquid Soap is one of the most versatile products in our store. Dr Bronner's Pure Castile Liquid Soap is a simple, pure, natural and highly effective liquid cleanser that is made without any synthetic preservatives, detergents or foaming agents. It is highly concentrated so a little goes a long way.

This castile soap is made using a combination of water, and a variety of oils, including coconut oil, palm kernel oil, olive oil, hemp seed oil and jojoba oil. The potassium hydroxide used in the saponification process (the process of turning oil in to soap & glycerin) completely disappears. These ingredients and the method of production make it one of the safest liquid body washes on the market today, and the brand has been making safe and natural products since they started in 1858.

For hand washing dishes in the sink: Dilute 1:10 with water, add a squirt to your water and scrub dishes.

In the laundry: Approx 1/3 to 1/2 cup. of soap for a large load in a normal washer. Add ½ cup. vinegar to the rinse cycle. Halve this amount for front loader.

For mopping the floor: ½ cup of soap in 1 bucket of hot water.

All purpose cleaning: ¼ cup soap in a 1 litre spray bottle. Add a few drops tea tree essential oil if desired.

To clean your windows: 1 Tbsp. soap in a 1 litre spray bottle. Follow up with pure club soda, or half vinegar/half water.

For toilet cleaning: Predilute 1:4 with water in a squirt bottle. Add a few drops of tea tree oil. Empty toilet, squirt bowl thoroughly, sprinkle baking soda on the brush, scrub bowl, let sit 10 minutes, turn water on, flush.

To rinse your fruit and veggies clean: 1 dash (approx.. ¼ tsp.) in a bowl of water. Dunk produce and swish. Then rinse in clear water.

To bathe your dog: Amount varies widely depending on size, hair type and length, and overall dirtiness. Wet your dog thoroughly, then start to work in castile soap up and down their body until you have a good lather. Really massage it in down to the skin then rinse avoiding contact with eyes.

Ant and bug rid spray: For ants use ¼ cup tea tree soap in a litre of water in a spray bottle in any problem areas. (Be careful near plants - this will burn them at this strength). To keep bugs out of the dirt in your indoor plants use 1 Tbsp. in a litre spray bottle and spray over the dirt.

1 extra use for Dr Bronner's Castile Soap that we are loving right now!

The original unscented Castile Soap by Dr Bronner is our go-to for stain removal on our Hannahpad organic cotton reusable menstrual cloth pads.  Simply squirt a small amount on the pad after rinsing, give it a quick rub and then soak in a bucket of Abode stain remover for 6-48 hours.

We also love the idea of grabbing some hemp seeds and giving them a quick grind in a mortar and pestles and making an exfoliating body wash out of it.
