What happened to the Acure Shampoo Bar in Australia
Acure Organics is an American natural beauty company known for their range of natural shampoo and skin care. Traditionally their shampoo and conditioner range has all been liquid and in plastic tubes with no bulk options for refills and to cut down on plastic, but they did take a step in to the shampoo bar space with the Acure Shampoo Bar with coconut & argan oil. But what happened to it and what are your alternatives now?
About the original Acure Shampoo Bar

The Acure Shampoo Bar was a 100% plastic free solution, wrapped in paper. It was marketed as a head to toe solution, for situations and people who like to just take one product in to the shower and clean everything from head to toe, not just your hair.
It achieved this well by using natural moisturising ingredients as the stand out hero ingredients of the bar. Coconut oil is a great product for the hair. We often recommend it as a natural hair mask treatment, it's great for scalp health and has antiviral, anti fungal and antibacterial properties. If you try using it as a hair mask and then wash it out with a shampoo, you will see a luxurious lather in your hair far beyond anything shampoo can do alone.
Argan oil is a useful natural oil to use as a standalone product for naturally healthy hair and is often incorporated in to products. UK brand that we stock, Faith In Nature say this about argan oil on their website:-
... argan oil is brimming with antioxidants and vitamin E, which may help to protect your hair from free radicals. These components are also known to help improve hair’s elasticity, reduce breakage and make dull hair shine again.

The Acure Shampoo Bar is no longer available for us to order from the Australian Distributor of Acure Organics. We still have the Acure Shampoo Range in the tubes and both shades of Dry Shampoo
Replacement option #1 - Dr Organic Coconut & Orange Shampoo & Conditioner Bar
This is one of the closest matches in store. It is actually formulated for curly and thick hair, but hear me out. It's nourishing, restores moisture and has coconut oil as one of the core ingredients. Instead of argan oil, a blend of jojoba oil is used instead, which is the oil that most closely represents what the skin makes itself.

Replacement Option #2 - Beauty & The Bees pH Balanced Shampoo Bars
When we first started our store back in 2009, the first shampoo bar brand we ever stocked was Beauty & The Bees. Their original bars (which are now cubes) are formulated in a way that there's an adjustment period when you swap from using traditional shampoo with SLS to a sulfate free shampoo. The pH balanced range is an instant transition and requires no adjustment period.
There are 5 options in the range, Normal Hair, Scalp Scrub (got dandruff issues?), Oily Hair, Dry / Frizzy Hair and an unscented Sensitive Scalp version. In this range we recommend you choose the option that suits your hair type but the closest match to the Acure Shampoo Bar is the Frizzy , Dry Hair and Scalp option in the pink box. All the products in the Beauty & The Bees range feature a core ingredient exclusive to their range, the Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey, which, in conjunction with the beeswax produced with it, creates an environment for deep moisturisation, and is joined by other core ingredients like cocoa butter, rosehip oil, argan oi, and herbs that are known to help mend hair including comfrey, nettle and horsetail.
Conclusion
While the USA site still sells the Acure Shampoo Bar, we did see it go away for a while and come up. It's unclear at the moment whether it will come back in Australia, but we highly recommend you making the swap to Option 2 which is an Australian brand.
