Whether you pack a set in your insulated lunch bag each day, or keep some in your handbag for those 'just in case' moments. doing this can make a big impact in reducing plastic waste from single use items.

How to care for your reusable bamboo cutlery

One thing to keep in mind is that not all bamboo cutlery is created equal. How smooth is it? What has it been oiled with? The Rechusable Sets and our Naturally Curated Sporks in our store all come shipped to us with NO OIL. Before their first use you will need to rub in your favourite organic cooking oil to season them. We do this so you know exactly what's on them.

Before your first use wash your new bamboo cutlery thoroughly with warm water and natural dishwashing detergent. Leave it to completely dry. We always suggest natural cleaning products with the bamboo because they can soak in to the cutlery. Rub your favourite oil into the cutlery and allow it to soak in. You can use olive oil, coconut oil or what ever else you happen to have in the kitchen and this process is similar to the way you would treat your bamboo or timber chopping boards, repeating periodically to keep items in excellent condition and extend their life.We don't recommend the use of hemp oil for this purpose.

To keep your bamboo cutlery in good condition, don't allow to sit in liquid for extended periods of time. Always hand wash in warm soapy water, drying thoroughly after rinsing clean and never put in the dishwasher.

At the end of its life your bamboo cutlery is biodegradable.
