FAQ: Preparing your Waters Co Ace Pot for the first time
The Waters Co ACE Pot 1.5 litre water filter jug is one of the best quality water filters in our store. At $179.00 for a fluoride water filter that has a 2 year filter kit with it, it's actually cheaper to run than a Brita Jug and also the Eco Bud jug that we sell in store. One common question we get from our customers is that it can be a little tricky to set up for the first time. Trust me, it's worth spending a little time with it for the amazing quality drinking water you'll get out of it when you're done. Waters Co have put together this handy instructional video which you can watch in full. We also have a summary of the steps you need to take to save you watching the video repeatedly. We do urge you to watch it the first time though.
- Place o-ring on top of the main filter. Soak the main filter and the mineral sub-filter in cold water for 30 minutes
- Soap the upper filter in luke warm water for 30 minutes
- Attach upper filter to the upper filter holder (after the 30 minute soak) and flush with warm water for 15 to 20 minutes at a slow rate
- Remove the mineral sub-filter and rinse under cold water to remove any particles
- Attach main filter to the main filter holder and flush continuously with water for 5 to 10 minutes
- Attach the mineral sub-filter to the base of the main filter & assemble jug
The top filter is replaced every 6 months (and you get 4 in the filter pack to last you for 2 years) and the main filter and the mineral filter are only replaced after 2 years.
Water quality does differ around the country and if the filter jug isn't flushed properly, it can and probably will smell a little funny. A very small number of customers have experienced a mild detox effect when switching to water from this jug. If you find you have a headache, we recommend you slowly introduce the water from your new jug in to your daily regime over a couple of weeks. Grab your favourite water bottle, and put 1/4 ACE water and the rest from another filter or the tap. Slowly increase the ratio as the detox symptoms go away. Water from this filter is full of trace minerals your body may not be used to having in such abundance, and as a result, your body may jump in to 'repair mode' with this new fuel and make you feel a little unwell as you go through this process.
If you have health problems and any mineral sensitivities, please speak to your primary health practitioner if you experience detox symptoms that won't go away.
