Introducing the diluted essential oils from Eco Modern Essentials
This week sees a new range of essential oils arriving in our store from Eco Modern Essentials. They are an Australian company producing 100% natural essential oils. There's nothing synthetic in the range, and I have tested the quality of these myself to make sure they are up to our standards as they are cheaper than the rest of the essential oils in store, and we only do good quality budget here, not 'cheap'. These oils are not certified organic, but they are pure and natural oils with nothing else in the bottle except natural distilled essential oils.
That said, there are a handful of oils in the range that are diluted down with a carrier oil. Why? These oils are not only incredibly expensive in their pure form, but they are very strong and can easily stand dilution to keep the price affordable. Each oil is diluted down either with grapeseed oil or jojoba oil only and that information is listed on the product.
3% dilutions
- German Chamomile
- Jasmine
- Melissa
- Neroli
- Rose
10% dilution
- Sandalwood
To compare with the other comprehensive essential oil range in store, doTERRA, here are the following side by side comparisons for pricing, bearing in mind that the doTERRA Oils are classed as therapeutic grade, but this is a self imposed classification and has no official standing in the industry.
Chamomile - Eco. Aroma is 3% dilution and is $15 for a 10ml bottle. The doTERRA is a Roman Chamomile and currently unavailable in Australia. In the USA it's around AU$85 for 5ml pure.
Jasmine - Eco. Aroma is 3% dilution and is $17 for a 10ml bottle. The doTERRA version cannot be bought and is available once a year as consultant prizes. It's AU price is around $250 to $300 for a 5ml bottle
Rose - Eco. Aroma is a 3% dilution and is $32 for a 10ml bottle. The doTERRA version cannot be bought and is available once a year as consultant prizes. It's AU price is around $500 for a 5ml bottle. Pure Rose oil is incredibly expensive and has quite interesting properties. In the bottle it gets thick and must be warmed up to body temperature to get it out of the bottle.
Melissa - also known as Lemon Balm, for quite some time the doTERRA version has not been available. It's only available from the USA at approx. AU$250 for 5ml. The 3% Eco. Aroma dilution is $19.
Neroli - is an oil that doTERRA do not sell. It's one of the essential oils in our best selling natural deodorant from Erica Brooke. At 3% dilution with Eco. Aroma it's $19.
Sandalwood - the pure doTERRA versions are $146 for 5ml and are the only one of these oils that doTERRA make available in Australia. We don't have it on our shelves because of the price and it's almost worth getting a doTERRA wholesale membership just for this one oil (same goes for the USA buy ins for the Melissa and Chamomile). The 10% dilution of the Eco. Aroma is $18
While there's no doubt the full strength versions of these oils are far more potent, the price puts them out of range for most people and due to the potency of each of these oils, having them pre-diluted in a carrier oil makes them an affordable step in to their world. If you fall in love with the oils and you want to save up for a pure version, you already know you love it. $500 is a lot of money to spend on a bottle of essential oils if you're not 100% sure you'll like it.
