NEW: doTERRA On Guard Protective Blend

The latest essential oil blend added to our store from the doTERRA range is the doTERRA On Guard Protective Blend. This blend is a mixture of orange, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary essential oils. It has two general primary uses, the first one being useful as a natural disinfectant, steriliser in cleaning products and the second one is for respiratory and immune system support as a therapeutic oil.

doTERRA On Guard for cleaning

Citrus oils, and in particular lemon and orange, are known for their ability to cut through grease and grime. This is a great building block for this oil blend. With the addition of clove oil, which is known for its ability to inhibit the growth of mould, these ingredients, along with eucalyptus make it a great essential oil to add to any home made spray and wipe product, your hot water for washing floors, rinsing dish cloths and so much more. It is particularly useful in the bathroom, and in particular, on tiles in the shower.

If you're ever in places with furniture & equipment gets shared with a lot of people, especially in cold & flu season, place a few drops of On Guard in to a bowl of warm water and use the solution to wipe over seats, tables, chairs, toilets, benches and more. Think childcare centre, gym, office, etc. Use it to make your own hand sanitiser or for those who are susceptible to catching viral infections from others, use a damp cloth with On Guard to wipe down the handles of your shopping trolley or anything you're touching that has been touched by a lot of members of the public. While I don't like to encourage people to be afraid of germs, for some people, it's just too easy to catch germs during cold & flu season, and this is a safe and natural way to help to eliminate risk.

Other cleaning uses include rubbing on clothing stains as a pre-wash stain remover, removing sticky substances from clothing or fabric or furniture (patch test first), mix 50/50 with water and spray on to the inside of your oven to remove greasy spots. You can also place some On Guard in to a glass of water to sterilise your toothbrush.

Please note: before reading this next section, we are not handing out health advice. Essential oils should be used with great care and any use for therapeutic treatment should be discussed with your primary care practitioner before commencing. For topical application, we recommend diluting all essential oils with coconut oil or another suitable carrier oil. If you react to an essential oil, washing it off is not the best way to treat it, smothering it in coconut oil or another suitable carrier oil (even vegetable oil if that's all you have) is the best remedy.

OK, that said, the following is anecdotal information about many suggested uses for the On Guard blend. doTERRA themselves put this essential oil blend in to toothpaste and hand sanitiser and cleaning products because of its properties. Applied topically to the soles of the feet (diluted), it can provide relief for respiratory symptoms associated with cold & flu season. Use it in a carrier oil as a part of a lymphatic massage for immune system support at the onset and during a viral infection.
