The Hluru 8 Note Premium Pentatonic Tongue Drum is made from Carbon Steel and has a beautiful warm rich tone for a small drum and rings beautifully for meditation or relaxation. It is tuned to the Pentatonic Scale of C. If you have no musical experience, all this means is that you can't play a wrong note. Simply pick it up and relax from the first time you strike one of the tongues with the mallet. Anything you play will sound beautiful. The Pentatonic Scale is the scale of all the black notes on a piano - or for those with some musical knowledge, notes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the major scale.
Your Hluru 8 note Pentatonic Premium Tongue Drum can be held in one hand by an adult or older child or sat on a table or the floor on the feet provided on the instrument. It has 8 notes - G3, A3, C4 (middle C on the piano), D4, E4, G4, A4, C5. This model doesn't have the notes marked on the drum, but we have provided the template for the notes in one of the additional photographs. You can either memorise them or place stickers on.

TONE - This drum has a more mellow, quieter and more muted tone when compared with the colourful Lotus Drums in the same size and tuning. The notes rings for around 8 to 12 seconds depending on how hard you hit it and which note you're hitting. The tone of the drum will change depending on how you hold it. You'll get a slightly more muted tone if you're touching the steel as you play. If you hold it just by the edges and the plug underneath, it will ring longer.
