The Hluru Maple and Acrylic Whale Kalimba is as beautiful to look at as it is to listen to. It is tuned to the key of C Major with 17 keys starting from C4 (which is Middle C on a piano) through to E5. Also known as a thumb piano, the kalimba is held with 2 hands and the stainless steel tines are plucked with your thumbnails to produce a light etherial tone like a music box or a xylophone being struck gently with a felt hammer. The kalimba is peaceful and relaxing to play and makes a great music therapy instrument.
The names and numbers of each note are embossed in to the tines to make the instrument easy to play for beginners to experts alike.

TONE - Solid kalimbas have a slightly cleaner tone than their hollow counterparts with a slightly lower volume as well. This kalimba has a warm and clear energy with long ringing tines as you pluck them (getting a little shorter in the ring duration once you get to the higher notes). Touching it against other surfaces is a great way to experiment with louder volume and different tones.
